A BUNGALOW built for a young married couple at the outbreak of the Second World War is being sold after nearly 70 years in the ownership of the same family.

Horace White and his wife Tilly moved into their bungalow when it was built in 1939 and brought up their two children in the same single-storey home in Kempshott Lane, Basingstoke.

Mr White was in the poultry-farming business and had a large outbuilding constructed next to the bungalow.

Today, the outbuilding still stands, but it is now a double garage, with an inspection pit, and a workshop. It has the potential to be used as an office.

The bungalow has come to the market for the first time since being built and is being sold through estate agent Parkers with an asking price of £399,950.

Jason Soane, of Parkers, said: "It is a spacious three-bedroomed bungalow with two separate reception rooms, plus a fairly basic kitchen and a bathroom with the original art-deco sage green porcelain suite that was fitted back in 1939, which still looks as good as new."

Tiled fireplaces are a feature of the two reception rooms and the largest of the bedrooms, but the bungalow has been updated with the installation of gas central heating, cavity wall insulation and double-glazing.

The bungalow has an attached outbuilding in addition to the old poultry shed.
