THE Liberal Democrats candidate hoping to be Basingstoke’s next MP said the live debate held by students at Queen Mary’s College this afternoon was terrifying.
Janice Spalding is the party’s candidate for the Basingstoke seat in May’s General Election.
Miss Spalding is currently an IT project manager at computer manufacturer, HP, and is also a member of the Basingstoke Hockey Club.
She told The Gazette: “It was absolutely terrifying. There were good questions and it informed me a lot about the other candidates.
“It is excellent to engage younger people with politics and it should be done more.
“I found being a teenager rubbish and I am so glad that I am not a teenager anymore because they have to make such important decisions and it is not a comfortable time.”
