Let us all remember
REMEMBRANCE Sunday is always a moving and special event in the national calendar, and every year, it is heartening to see so many people of all ages taking part in, and attending, the borough’s tributes to the fallen.
This year’s services, in the year which marks the 100th anniversary of the start of the First World War, are bound to be particularly poignant. It is to be hoped that the turnout at local memorials and services is even larger than usual for these most important acts of remembrance.
In the Pink
CONGRATULATIONS to Janis Taylor and her team of volunteeers and supporters who are involved in The Pink Place.
This week, the charity, which provides vital support for women suffering from breast cancer, celebrated an important milestone when Basingstoke and Deane Mayor Councillor Roger Gardiner officially opened its new premises in Wote Street, Basingstoke.
This development is a great credit to Janis and her team, and to all of those organisations who have supported this very worthy, and important, good cause.
Up for the cup
BASINGSTOKE Town FC have made a great start to the season, and this Saturday sees the team taking part in one of the biggest home games of recent years in the FA Cup first round.
The Gazette hopes local people come along to the Soccer AM stadium to give the side vital support for the big match.
