A model way to raise profile

COULD you be the face of Basingstoke?

That's the question being posed by the company that is aiming to raise the image and profile of the town and borough.

Destination Basingstoke, a not-for-profit company, is launching a competition to find people with star potential to promote Basingstoke and Deane.

Destination Basingstoke is seeking men, women and families who are willing to appear as models in a range of photographs for marketing publications and on its revamped website.

Felicity Edwards, managing director of Destination Basingstoke, said: "We want people from all sectors of the community to be involved in showcasing how alive, vibrant and thriving this borough really is.

"Rather than using professional models from agencies that may have no real connection with the town, we thought the best faces to feature in future marketing material about what a great place Basingstoke is to live, work and do business in would be those people who already live, work or do business here."

The people with the chosen faces will receive £100 of vouchers to use in Festival Place and be entered into a prize draw to receive an hour-long personal photo session with a professional photographer.

The competition starts today and the deadline for entries is Monday, August 11.

To enter the competition, send two photographs and the application form to faces@destinationbasingstoke.co.uk or Faces Competition, Corporate Communications, Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council, Freepost, BZ 740, Basingstoke, RG21 4GA.

For more information about the contest, or to download an application form, visit the Destination Basingstoke website at www.destinationbasingstoke.co.uk

Application forms can also be collected from the Festival Place information desk or Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council's London Road offices.
