Body was stuffed in suitcase

THE burned human remains discovered in Dummer were stuffed in a suitcase, murder detectives will reveal today.

Police are expected reveal more details about the gruesome find at a press conference in the north Hampshire village later this afternoon as they continue their investigation.

Detective Chief Inspector Gary O'Flaherty said: "We think the woman was brought to the scene in a suitcase that was set alight.

"We know the suitcase was an Eagle case and we are carrying out inquiries to determine the exact case."

Hampshire Constabulary is pursuing a murder inquiry after a dog-walker found the charred body of a young woman near the Wayfarers' Walk footpath at about 6.30am on Thursday.

Detectives are keen to hear from anyone who may know who the dead woman, who has not been identified. She was white, approximately 5ft 6in, slim, in her late teens to early thirties and had not had a child.

She was wearing a grey wallpaper-print hooded top from New Look.
