THEATRE-LOVERS and other customers are set to benefit from a new cafe and bar at The Haymarket following the completion of another milestone in the theatre's rebirth.

Work on the new facility, called The Exchange, has just been completed and opens today.

The bar and cafe was given the name in recognition of the building's beginnings as a 19th century corn exchange.

As fans of the stage tuck into food and drink, they will also benefit from free wireless internet access and an internet cafe.

Original windows, blocked for decades, have also been opened up to allow more light into the area and a platform lift has also been installed.

Andrea Bath, press officer for Anvil Arts which took over the management of the Wote Street theatre last year, said: "The cafe and restaurant are light and spacious, with new windows opening out on to Wote Street, making it - we feel - the best new place to have lunch in town.

"It's a great place to meet friends or just catch up on e-mails with coffee and a snack."
