Bikers ride in to claim pupils' egg donations

BIKERS descended on a Basingstoke infant school to collect Easter eggs for charity.

In total, 12 motorcyclists, dressed in full leathers, attended Kings Furlong Infant School, in Chestnut Drive, on behalf of the Variety Club in Reading, to collect eggs the children had brought in from home.

The pupils had to bring in an egg if they wanted to come to school in their own casual clothes.

As well as picking up more than 200 eggs, the bikers spent time showing the pupils their motorcycles and speaking to them about the charity, which will distribute the eggs to local children in need on Good Friday.

Deputy headteacher Jo Goman said "Altogether we had 222 eggs in the school hall.

"A parent of one of the children has a motorcycle and told us about the charity egg collection. We like to help local charities and try to do something every half-term, so we were pleased to help out.

"The children really enjoyed looking at the motorbikes and were interested to hear how the eggs they brought in would be going to help children in need."
