News from the Pews April 28
BOB Farmer, who is a member of the North Basingstoke Community Church, has been collecting mobile phones for some time, which he sends to workers in Uganda.
The response has been so good that he has more phones to send abroad.
If you would like to help Mr Farmer in his endeavour to put phones into the hands of those less fortunate, e-mail Bob.Farmer@btinternet.com.
THE Church Pastoral Aid Society was founded in the 19th century by Lord Shaftesbury and has since been providing help for local Anglican churches. St Mary's, in Overton, sends a little financial support to them each year.
The church has, for example, helped a new emcumbent as he became a vicar for the first time, sent a children's leader to a training event, and was central to a church council which benefited from suggestions about new ways of worship.

ROADS being prayed for this week in Tadley and Pamber Heath are Maple Grove, Mariners Close and Millers Road, Tadley; and Silchester Road, Pamber Heath.
AS usual, I wait to hear from you with details of your church activities. I can be contacted on 01256 475380, by post to 16 Brocas Drive, Basingstoke, RG21 5LT, or via e-mail to blairman@ntlworld.com
