FAREWELL to Canon David Tonkinson, the former industrial chaplain, who is off to become the partnership development officer in the Guildford Diocese.
He has been in Basingstoke for six years. You might have seen a piece about him in The Gazette last week.
He told me that it has been a privilege to serve as chaplain to the present mayor, and he admired the commitment to public service of the borough councillors and staff, and felt that a pause for prayerful thought at the beginning of each full council meeting was the right thing to do.
Good luck to David.
ON SUNDAY, there will be family worship at Silchester Methodist Church, with the Andover Puppets, at 10.30am.
TADLEY Concert Brass will be giving a concert in memory of Ray Lambden (long-serving member of the band) to be held at St Paul's, The Green, Tadley, on Saturday, at 7.30pm, in the church hall.
Tickets, costing £6, are available from Tadley Instruments.
ROADS in Tadley and Pamber Heath being prayed for this week are Main Road, Malthouse Lane, Manse Lane, Tadley; and Sandy Lane, Pamber Heath.
CHURCHES Together in Hartley Wintney are holding a pentecost service on Sunday, May 11, on the cricket green, at 11am.
This is an ecumenical unity service. All are welcome. Why not bring a picnic for after the service?
