THE Reverend Ken Batt, who is the newly-appointed priest in charge at St Mary's, Silchester, will be licensed on June 19, at St Mary's, by the Bishop of Basingstoke.
The Parochial Church Council has decided to have a charities and missions box at the back of the church on the third Sunday of every month, for people to put in their spare change.
The money collected from tea and coffee will be added to this fund.
ADVANCE notice of an Ascension Day supper and service at All Hallows, in Whitchurch, on Thursday, May 1. Holy Communion is at 7.30pm, followed by the parish supper in the church room.

The Baptist Church has morning service on Sundays, at 10.30am, with Holy Communion on the first Sunday of each month, with evening service at 6.30pm and Holy Communion on the third Sunday of each month.
On Tuesdays, Fellowship is at 2.15pm, and on Wednesdays, Bible study and a prayer meeting is at 8pm.

The Methodist Church, in the High Street, holds family worship for all ages at 10.30am, every Sunday, with Holy Communion on the first Sunday.
At Rosefield Court, Communion is held on the first Tuesday of the month, at 11am, and every Wednesday, at 10am, in the church.
