MANY thanks to everyone who has donated hats, jam jars and wicker baskets.
We now have enough jars but please keep the hats and baskets coming.
Other items we can put to good use are artificial and dried flowers, lace and ribbons which volunteers will use to smarten up hats for our Ladies Ascot Day, plus small, new gifts which are useful for tombolas.
Please send or bring your donations to the hospice, or to any of our shops, in Epping, Harlow or Saffron Walden.
If this is not possible, arrangements can be made to collect large quantities.
Once again this year Alice Flight and members of the Rushes Mead and Bushey Craft Residents' Association in Harlow are holding a fundraising 'Floggit Sale', in the local recreation field from 9am to 1pm on Sunday, June 10.
To book a pitch, ring Alice on 01279 436573.
St Clare continues to receive money in diverse ways.
A gift has come from Derek Harrison and his wife, from Sawbridgworth.
They organise a quartet of singers who recently sang for the morning mass at Hertford Catholic Church.
Their £100 fee for singing has gone towards the work of the hospice.
Last October we held a ceremony to officially open the hospice and a special plaque was unveiled in the entrance. On the same day, representatives from those who support our work and from the community we serve took part in a procession to pass along a flame.
The flame eventually lit a candle in the hospice's sanctuary where it will burn for evermore. The Eternal Flame represents those who have passed away and hope for the future.
Churches and religious groups are invited to sponsor the Eternal Flame, choosing a day of the year which is particularly significant to them.
Sponsors' names are displayed in the Sanctuary for an appropriate period of time.
The Sanctuary, formerly known as the chapel, is always open to visitors. For more information ring Penny Sturdy at the hospice on 01279 413590.
