A neighbourhood watch group is this week calling for a new controlled parking zone (CPZ) to curb the number of commuters parking their cars around Brent Cross.
Members of Elmcroft Crescent Neighbourhood Watch say nearby restrictions in Golders Green are forcing a lot more cars to use their area as a public car park.
Inge Graber, Elmcroft Crescent watch co-ordinator, said: "The Golders Green restrictions forced a lot more cars to treat Brent Cross as a public car park. We're having great difficulty driving around the area as commuters tour round and round looking for somewhere to park their cars."
Elmcroft Crescent Neighbourhood Watch also believes a proposal for a CPZ brought up two or three years ago may have died a death.
Mrs Graber added: "When I enquired about the CPZ it seemed there were no plans at all to create one. This is causing a great deal of heavy traffic in small side roads and cars are parked badly on corners of turnings in Highfield Avenue which could be extremely dangerous especially for pedestrians."
Councillor Allan Turner, Barnet's cabinet member for environment, said: "The plans for a CPZ have not been dropped. We're reviewing all proposals for CPZs across the borough which will establish the priority schemes.
"This includes looking at the impact of all day parking by commuters and any knock-on effect from neighbouring schemes. The views of residents will be carefully considered as part of the review process."
