CLUB Velocitá is a brand-new organisation that bills itself as "The Ultimate Supercar Club".

Considering that a number of such clubs already exist, this may seem a bold claim - until you catch a glimpse of the fleet of exotic models stored in the company's headquarters at Hatch Industrial Park.

The initial collection consists of two Lamborghinis (a Gallardo Spyder and a Murciélago LP640 Roadster), a Ferrari F430 Spider F1, an Aston Martin V8 Vantage, a Porsche 911 Turbo Cabriolet and a Bentley Continental GTC - all brand-new.

The concept of the supercar club has grown over the past few years, driven by enthusiasts who are keen to sample as many different exotic cars as possible. Members pay an annual fee and are allotted a number of points - known as "Revs" at Club Velocitá - which they can then use to book time with the cars of their choice.

The number of points each booking uses up depends on factors such as the desirability of the car, the time of year and the days of the week, with summer weekends being most in demand and hence requiring most points.

Club Velocitá offers both individual and corporate membership, with members' life partners being insured for no additional charge.

Members must be over 30 with no more than two minor driving convictions, but the cars can be driven in any European country on request.

Members are also offered an advanced performance driver training course as an additional option to ensure they are capable of handling such high-performance vehicles.

The fleet of supercars will expand in response to member requests and if one car proves particularly popular, the club will buy a duplicate vehicle to cater to demand.

An online booking system and collection/delivery service (for an additional charge) will make it extremely convenient for members to arrange their time with the cars.

Chairman Martin Robinson said they chose the Basingstoke area as the club's base because of its excellent transport links and proximity to some of the best driving roads in the country.

Membership packages cost £12,995, plus a one-off joining fee of £950 (see website for alternative package), which buys 5,000 miles with some of the most desirable cars in the world.
