The crash scene on the A30 Winchester Road
A WOMAN had to be cut free from a car after a collision on a main Basingstoke road.
The incident took place at around 12noon today on the eastbound carriageway of the A30 Winchester Road, near Kelvin Hill, South Ham.
A Mitsubishi 4x4 car was in collision with a Saab car, by the traffic lights at the junction with Hill View Road.
Officers closed a section of the road while firefighters cut off the roof of the Saab. Traffic was diverted along Cobbett Green and back on to Winchester Road.
A woman and a young child from the Saab were taken to Basingstoke hospital as a precaution. The driver of the Mitsubishi was not injured.
PC Steve Taylor, from Farnborough police station, told The Gazette: “We have two minor injuries from the car in front, which stopped to allow pedestrians to cross as the lights had changed.”
Anyone witnesses to the crash can contact PC Taylor on 101.
