Plans for expansion of Sherfield School to go on show
A PUBLIC exhibition showing plans to develop an independent school will go on display today.
Members of the public are invited to attend the exhibitions at Sherfield School, below, in Sherfield-on-Loddon, to view the proposals.
As previously reported in The Gazette, the plans include a new 50-metre swimming pool, a new sports hall, a multi-purpose Astroturf pitch, 90-bed boarding houses, additional classrooms and a 250-seat auditorium.
The plans will be on show today between 3pm and 7pm and on October 20 from 10am to 2pm in the school’s courtyard studios.
There will be a chance to comment on the plans before GEMS Education, which runs the school for children aged from three months to 18, submits a planning application to Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council.
Representatives from the project team will be on hand to answer questions and provide more detail about the proposals.
As well as increasing facilities for existing students, the development also aims to attract new students and improve the appearance of some of the buildings, by either refurbishing or replacing them.
Dick Jaine, headmaster at Sherfield, said: “We are delighted to be able to bring forward these exciting plans.”

The current ones are inadequate for the volume of traffic enetering and leaving and are rather dangerous.
