South West Trains power failure fixed

A MAJOR power failure which led to massive delays for rail passengers travelling between Basingstoke and London was resolved last night.

A spokesman for South West Trains said the issue, which the company said led to a “widespread loss of signalling” at Clapham Junction, was fixed at midnight on Friday.

Ten of thousands of rail passengers on trains going in and out of London Waterloo were affected by the problem yesterday.

At one point, no trains ran between London Waterloo and Woking. For the rest of the day, all trains in and out of London Waterloo were delayed by up to 45 minutes.

Trains between London Waterloo and Basingstoke also called at Esher, Hersham, Walton On Thames, Weybridge and West Byfleet.

The company also allowed rail passengers to use other operators around London Waterloo.
