A MAN was found with stab wounds in Basingstoke town centre in the early hours of Sunday morning.

As reported by The Gazette yesterday, police launched an investigation into a “serious assault” at Top of The Town, but gave no further information about the incident.

Now, police have revealed that they discovered a man with stab wounds after being called to Caston's Yard, behind McDonalds, at 3.30am on October 7.

The injured man was taken to Basingstoke hospital by ambulance.

Police cordoned off the area for more than eight hours on Sunday, and issued an appeal for two possible witnesses in a dark blue car in Caston's Yard to come forward.

However, Hampshire Constabulary has now said no one is wanted in connection with the incident.

A statement added: “A full investigation of the circumstances surrounding this incident was carried out and it was found that no other people were involved. The man was not seriously injured and the investigation is now complete.”

I was (almost) attacked in the exact same place by some aids junkie scum, about ten years ago. I was also in the 'spoons last night. Luckily, no one was injured.

Sorry, I don't infer that from the report. How do you conclude that the 'victim' stabbed themselves in the 'spoons?

The article states that:

"...it was found that no other people were involved".

Ergo, 'spoons is dangerous "Only if you stab yourself as the 'victim' in the report clearly did".

OK, so if I follow your logic and use the information available in the article then surely Barclays Bank, The Bengal Brasserie or any other place within the vicinity of Castons Yard 'is dangerous'.

Why particularly the Maidenhead Arms to which I assume you refer to as the 'spoons ( A J D Wetherspoons establishment)?

"deepinsight" - No. You quoted me, and questioned whether 'spoons is dangerous. Robert quoted you, and said it wouldn't be dangerous, unless, like the 'victim' in the article, you stab yourself. I then quoted the article, three times, in response to your follow on question, to illustrate that the man appears to have stabbed himself, as the article states. 'spoons is an abbreviation of the obvious, and was used initially by me as an example of a well known venue adjacent to Caston's Yard. Why? Because I went there on Sunday evening and, as I said, in my first comment, I saw no one injured.
