7:30am Monday 8th October 2012 in Local By Adam Richards
PEOPLE who store petrol illegally at home risk causing a serious incident, and could face jail, Hampshire County Council has warned.
Trading Standards said residents must not keep more than two cans of petrol at home, and must used approved 10litre metal containers, or plastic five litre ones.
The warning follows an incident where a county resident was found to be storing 11 cans of petrol in a garage.
The county council said that to reduce the risk of a fire or explosion, containers need to be kept in a ventilated building and near to a foam fire extinguisher. For more information visit www.hants.gov.uk/tradingstandards/petrol-advice
