Winklebury Junior School graded as "good" by Ofsted

A BASINGSTOKE junior school’s improvement has been put down to the “very strong leadership” of the headteacher and governors.
Winklebury Junior School was graded as “good” by Ofsted following an inspection on September 12 and 13. The report said progress in reading, writing and maths had “improved rapidly over the last two years, successfully reversing a history of underachievement”.
The quality of teaching was judged to be “good” overall and “outstanding” in Year 6. The Ofsted report said the school provides: “an imaginatively designed range of learning opportunities (which) is ensuring that pupils enjoy their lessons and have good opportunities for their spiritual, moral, social and cultural development.”
Christine Clayton, head of the school, in Winklebury Way, said: “The Ofsted report celebrates the tremendous amount of work that has been done over recent years to move the school forward, and everyone in the school community can be very proud of their contribution to the school’s success.”
