Baughurst Scout and Guide group celebrate 20 years
BAUGHURST Scout and Guide group celebrated a milestone year with a day out of doors.
Rainbows, Beavers, Brownies, Cubs, Guides and Scouts were celebrating 20 years of being a joint group.
Activities included a rope course, grass-sledging, archery, fire-lighting, and wood or soap-carving before the day ended with a barbecue and camp fire.
Viv Salem, group guide leader, said the group had a brilliant time. Mrs Salem said: “We wanted to celebrate the achievement of being together as a joint Scout and Guide group for 20 years and we think we are fairly unique.”
The event, held at a camping site in Cold Ash, proved to be third time lucky for the group, who twice had to cancel previous events because of bad weather.
The Scouts’ county commissioner, Adam Jollans, guide county outdoor adviser Kate Stewart and Ken Turner, a founder member of the group, were present.
