Tenth anniversary of The Orchard, Basingstoke
A HELP and advice centre for voluntary and community groups in Basingstoke and Deane is to hold an open day to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the building.
There are 12 charities housed in the building, including Basingstoke Voluntary Services, which supports voluntary and community groups.
The Orchard will open on September 13 between 10am and 3pm and is inviting representatives from businesses, organisations or individuals to come along and see what services are available.
Refreshments will be provided throughout the day by the Cafe Project, a charity based at The Dome, in Brighton Hill, and there will be entertainment in the atrium as well as a number of formal talks.
Awards will be given out during the afternoon by borough mayor Cllr Martin Biermann to individuals and charities, as a thank you for their contribution over the last 10 years.
Rebecca Kennelly, chief executive of Basingstoke Voluntary Services, said: “The Orchard open day will be a wonderful opportunity for the local community to visit this lovely building and discover the very valuable contribution local charities are making in and around the borough and gives us the chance to say thank you to our many supporters.”
