A TADLEY-based team of relay racing dogs have returned triumphant from both the British Flyball Championships and European Flyball Championships.

Flyball – in which two teams of dogs race each other to collect tennis balls – is an increasingly popular event with a strong presence in Tadley.

Two teams from Delta Flyball Club, which trains on Tadley Common on Thursday evenings, joined 96 other teams from England, Scotland, Poland, Austria, Germany and Belgium for the European event, held in Ely, Cambridgeshire in late July.

The teams, Delta Force and Delta Destroyers, took a second and third podium place respectively in their individual divisions.

Club owner Karen Marks said: “It was hugely exciting and we hope to attend again next year where the event is due to take place in Austria.”

At the British Championships, held in Nuneaton on August 18, three Tadley teams entered, with the Delta Flyers also joining the competitors as one of 270 teams split over 45 divisions. The Flyers scooped a fourth place, the Force team came fifth in their division and the Destroyers became divisional champions in their group.
