GCSE results in Basingstoke GCSE results in Basingstoke

THE agony and the ecstasy! It was that time of year again when hundreds of teenagers like Danielle Beeks and Paige Pryor, pictured, found out their GCSE results.

Across north Hampshire there were many success stories as students pulled their results sheets from the envelopes.

But there were disappointments too, as the row about harsh marking broke out.

See this Thursday's Gazette for five pages of coverage on how our schools measured up and how so many students put in the hours and beat the odds.

Any truth in the rumour that Brighton Hill managed to "lose" all the Geography papers completed by their students? How 'unsatisfactory' if true! Perhaps that Gazette will investigate? Or perhaps they won't!

I am sure that if you approach The Gazette with some solid facts or the name of a reliable contact they will be keen to investigate further. But if they tried to follow up every unsupported rumour they would find themselves wasting a lot of time on wild goose chases.
Finally, it is unethical of you to be using these comments to spread unsubstantiated rumours and gossip.

I suppose they could start with the Headmaster, he might know! They'd have to get passed the automated switchboard which could prove tricky but I'm sure it's possible!

I'm going on what a couple of parents have told me and if it's true then it needs publicising don't you think?

Anyway, I'm off to sit on the naughty step.

The media does that all the time - deal with it.

Checked the facts no gcse papers lost by school for geography.

Try again you have a beef with Brighton Hill try talking instead of publishing lies.

Excuse me? Publishing lies? I repeated something I was told by parents of students and asked whether it was true. You say it isn't - what's your source? I note you say that no geography papers were lost - does that mean papers from a different subject were lost? Or that the geography papers were lost but then found?

From the letter my daughter received with her results, I believe it was History and the examination board (OCR) that "lost" the papers.

That's a bit rich from you, is it not? Did you not do exactly the same thing on this forum in regards to the Polling Card mis-prints? Blamed the council before checking your facts and it turned out it was the printers at fault after all?

I blame no one except the trolls that always claim someone told them never direct evidence or dare use their own name strange that.

The council was at fault they did not check the final proof sent to them the same council that did "nothing wrong guv" until the courts found them guilty of illegal acts.

I am more than happy to direct you to exactly where you blamed the council on this matter, on this forum if you like.

In the printed article in Gazette on the matter, the council make it clear that the proof they sent to the printers was correct and the mistake was the result of a printing error at the printers.

No responsible newspaper can base an article on hearsay. Gossip is fine between consenting adults outside the school gates but it has no place in these posts.
What you have repeated is libel unless proven true - can you prove it is true?
