TRAVELLERS have moved off land in Oakridge.


Twelve caravans and campervans arrived on Sherborne Road Playing Fields in Upper Sherborne Road yesterday afternoon.


Geoff Scrutton, gypsy and traveller liaison officer at the borough council, told The Gazette he hoped they would be moved on in 14 days.

But this morning the entire camp had vacated the borough council owned land.
Police also spoke to the travellers yesterday.


Last night a helicopter was spotted over the area, but police have refused to confirm to The Gazette if they were involved in evicting the travellers from the site.

Oh that must have the helicopter making all that racket yesterday evening. I assumed it was chasing crims. Looks like I was right.
