A BRAMLEY woman will brave ships and fierce tides when she attempts to swim the English Channel to raise money for a local hospice.
Zoe Sadler will swim a gruelling 21 miles across one of the world’s busiest shipping lanes in her attempt to raise £10,000 for St Michael’s Hospice, Aldermaston Road.
Zoe, a manager at KMPG in Reading, hopes to complete the challenge, on July 26, in under 16 hours.
She said: “This will be a really demanding swim but I am looking forward to tackling it. My preparations are going very well, but I am terrified of the prospect of the jellyfish and sea
lampreys.
“I really hope to raise as much money as possible for St Michael’s Hospice which gives amazing care and support to patients and their families affected by long term illnesses.”
She will be escorted on her swim by a pilot boat, an official observer and a five-man support crew.
Zoe, 38, has been training hard for the big swim with Basingstoke Bluefins Masters squad and has taken on several sea swims. To sponsor Zoe go to justgiving.com/Zoe-Sadler1.
