Officer injured after Basing View collision

AN ON-DUTY police officer was hit by a car he tried to stop in a Basingstoke business park.

The incident took place in the car park of Snamprogetti House, Basing View, at around 10.45pm on Friday, July 6.

Police said the officer, who has not been named, was patrolling the car park after reports of cars being driven erratically in Basing View.

As he approached a black Citroen Saxo parked in the car park, the female driver pulled off at speed and the car struck the officer in the knee.

The driver is described as white, aged between 17 and 23 years old, of slim build and had long hair. She had a female passenger of a similar description.

PC Chris Pike said: “The officer was in uniform and clearly walking toward this vehicle when it was driven off at speed. Fortunately the officer only received a minor injury as a result of this incident, but it could have been much worse.”

Anyone with information can contact PC Pike at Basingstoke police station on 101 or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

I bet the person drove off because they were drunk (i.e. shouldn't have been driving) and knew that if breathalised they'd lose their license. I hope that when she's caught the judges will throw the book at her. She deserves a custodial sentence for intentionally driving at a police officer.

Don't know about drunk but they were clearly up to no good. If I were to pontificate, i'd guess they were either under age ie no licence or engaged in drug related shenanigans.

So, drunk, underage, unlicenced, dealing and or taking drugs and deliberately driving at the officer. I hope you guys aren't on the jury.

What jury?! That would suggest this dippy copper would have actually apprehended the offender!

I'm sure he got the index number and ran it through the PNC. No? Epic fail..........

Jury ? - I'd be administering the lethal injection ! You can't be too careful. They're clearly miscreants, we should purge society before it'd too late ;o)

@Hector2004

That's a bit harsh. We don't need to exterminate inept policemen or call them miscreant, we just need to train them better.
