DETECTIVES investigating a robbery outside a Basingstoke supermarket have released CCTV pictures in a witness appeal.
The offence took place at about 8.30pm on Monday, May 7, as a 26-year-old man tried to use a cash machine outside ASDA, in Brighton Way, Brighton Hill.
The offender walked up to him, punched him in the head, took his wallet and removed £70 in cash before dropping the wallet.
He is described as white, aged in his late 20s, about 5ft 11ins tall and wore a white hooded top with the hood up and tracksuit bottoms.
Detective Constable Claire Chandler said: “Fortunately the victim wasn’t seriously injured as a result of this incident but it was a very brazen attack.
“The shop was closed at the time of the incident as it was a Bank Holiday, but it is believed there may have been people playing football in the car park at the time.”
Anyone with information can contact Basingstoke police station on 101 or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
