ANIMAL lovers can support a Basing-stoke animal charity and give a pet in need reasons to be cheerful this Christmas and in 2010.
STARescue is a registered animal charity that cares for all types of animals and consists of three main centres – two in Basingstoke, which care for cats, rabbits, guinea pigs and other small furry pets, and one in Reading which looks after homeless ferrets.
The charity also has several foster homes that care for dogs and any overspill of abandoned and unwanted animals.
Shirley King, who has been running the charity from her home for over a decade, said: “This year has seen so many animals seeking new homes and a much higher volume of kittens than other years, despite all the free neutering for cats that has been on offer by the rescue.
“On a brighter note, many animals have gone to good homes, but so many are still waiting.
“If you feel you can offer an animal a home, or make a donation of food or money to help towards veterinary costs, the charity and the animals would be most grateful.
“STARescue would like to thank The Basingstoke Extra – The Gazette’s free sister paper – for running the ‘Give us a home’ feature each week, and to all the readers, we wish you a very Happy Christmas, and all the best for the New Year.”
All dietary and care advice is given upon adoption of any animal.
Anyone able to offer a suitable home to a pet can call STARescue on 01256 330532 and leave their name and telephone number speaking slowly and carefully. More information is also available at starescue.org.uk.
