Man beaten with metal pole outside Basingstoke railway station
A MAN was beaten by a gang and hit over the head with a metal pole in a brawl outside Basingstoke railway station.
The assault took place at midnight on Friday, October 11 and involved a group of up to four men.
The victim, a 25-year-old man from Basingstoke, sustained a broken hand and head injuries in the attack.
He was repeatedly punched by one man before being hit with a metal pole by another.
The man who used the pole then ran off through the subway that runs underneath the railway line.
Detective Constable Darrin Carey said: “This was a serious incident where a man sustained nasty injuries.”
A 41-year-old man, from Basingstoke has been arrested in connection with the incident and released on bail until November 12 pending further enquiries.
