FIRE safety was the theme of a fun activity day organised for primary schoolchildren.
A fire engine from Eastleigh visited Whitchurch Primary School, in Daniel Road, Whitchurch for Year 2 pupils to look inside.
The youngsters, who got to dress up like firefighters, also used a hose to try to extinguish a fake blaze made from wood, which they attempted to knock down with the jet of water.
Julie Rix, a Year 2 teacher at the school, said: “All the activities revolved around fire safety. They have had a talk about smoke alarms and how often to change them, and about fire blankets. They had a look inside the fire engine, and there was a video playing.”
The children also played fire safety games and listened to a story on the topic. Mrs Rix said: “I think they all enjoyed it.”
