Neighbours woken by screaming as man was stabbed in Chineham
DETECTIVES have arrested four people after a man was stabbed in the chest outside a house in Chineham.
Neighbours in St Joseph’s Crescent woke to the sound of screaming and shouting outside a house at 7.30am on Tuesday morning.
A 27-year-old man sustained two wounds to his chest during the disturbance and was taken to Basingstoke hospital. His condition is not thought to be serious.
Officers cordoned off a section of the road and a house while scenes-of-crime officers searched for clues.
One officer took a pair of black, broken sunglasses from the street and put them in a bag for further examination.
A woman, who did not want to be identified, said her daughter heard screaming from the house. When the woman opened the door to walk her daughter to school, she saw two ambulances outside the house and police officers.
She said: “I am not shocked by anything that happens at that house. The area is quiet but when you live in this street and something is happening, you know it’s to do with that house.”
Another woman said she woke up to the sound of shouting from the house, but did not see what happened.
Police officers believe that three other men were involved in the incident and may have run from the scene.
Detective Sergeant Paula James, of Basingstoke CID, said: “There would have been a lot of noise in the street early in the morning which may have attracted attention. Did you see or hear anything?”
Anyone with information can call Basing-stoke CID on 101 or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
Four people – a 19-year-old man, a 35-year-old man, a 17-year-old boy and a 17-year-old girl, all from Basingstoke – were arrested in connection with this incident yesterday.
Two of them, 19-year-old Ciaran Boyle and a 17-year-old boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, were charged in connection with the incident this morning.

The other two have been released pending further enquiries, while another 19-year-old has been arrested and is currently in custody.
