Big improvement at Silchester pre-school
1:00pm Tuesday 15th October 2013 in News
A PRE-SCHOOL has been graded as “good” by Ofsted, less than a year after it was rated “inadequate.”
In October 2012, Cherry Trees Pre School, based in Silchester Village Hall, Silchester, was given the lowest grading by the education watchdog’s inspectors, who said: “Poor levels of adult interaction hinder children’s ability to develop secure attachments as staff do not give children the attention they need.”
But 12 months later, inspectors have now reported that “all staff engage well with children.”
Cherry Trees re-registered under new ownership in 2012 and runs term-time sessions from 9.15am until 2.20pm from Monday to Friday.
The Ofsted report, published on October 3, said: “The staff team has worked extremely hard to make necessary improvements since the last inspection.
“There are noticeable improvements in relation to the way staff support children’s learning and development.”
It added: “This change has had a positive effect on children’s enjoyment of activities and the progress they make.”
