Brave victim of rapist Aaron Bremner speaks out
“THE events themselves were terrifying and indescribable, but the effect that it has on you after is vast.”
Those are the words of the brave victim of rapist Aaron Bremner, who is pleased that her attacker has been locked up for a long time.
She met Bremner by chance on some steps in Basingstoke town centre and agreed to give him a lift – a kind-hearted decision which evil Bremner took advantage of in the worst possible way.
The victim said: “Now that the court case is over, I feel relieved. I feel as if I can now properly get my life back together, and that I can return to my old bubbly self.”
However, she said that her outlook on life, and her attitudes to other people, had been changed by the horrific ordeal.
She said: “My life has been affected in many ways by this man. I now find it very hard to trust people and can feel scared and unsafe in many situations.
“My experiences have changed the way I look at many parts of day-to-day life, and how I look at things in general.
“The events themselves were terrifying and indescribable but the effect that it has on you after, is vast. Knowing that the court case is over, and that I can fully move on now, is comforting.”
The woman welcomed the sentence handed to her attacker, adding: “I am very happy with the sentence he received. I am also happy to know that this man is off the streets.”
She thanked Hampshire police and the witness service for their help and support throughout the case.
