Fire crews called to Dummer last night
A COMBINE harvester went up in flames last night in Dummer.
Fire crews were called out to a field behind The Sun Inn at 8.45pm last night.
Crew manager Jamie Cousins from Basingstoke fire station said it was not clear how the blaze began.
He said: “We don’t know how it started but it took a few hours to completely extinguish it.”
10 fire fighters, in two appliances, fought the flames for nearly three hours before finally leaving the scene at around midnight.
Crew manager Cousins said: “There was a lot of cutting away to do before we could get to the parts which were burning.”
He said the combine harvester was completely destroyed by the blaze.
