TWO talented local teens have made it through to the regional finals of the TeenStar singing competition.

Emma Lawrence, 16, right, beat off competition from thousands of other hopefuls to make it through to the next stage of the competition, which will be held on April 14 at the Ferneham Hall, in Fareham.

The Woolton Hill teenager wowed judges with a rendition of her own song All Things I Want to Say accompanying herself on the guitar.

Emma, who has been writing and performing her own songs for the last six months, is hoping to once again impress judges when she performs in the late teens category, for those aged 16 to 19.

Also hoping to make it to the next stage of the national talent competition is 15-year-old Billie-Jo Bowers, from Aldermaston.

She will be performing at the regional finals at Sub89, in Reading, on Sunday, April 7, hoping to impress the judges and make it even further in the national competition.

She said: “I haven’t decided what I’ll sing yet but I want to do something upbeat. I am a bit nervous but mainly just excited, I really can’t wait.”

Chris Grayston, events co-ordinator for TeenStar said: “We are looking to find an act that has something unique to offer, with potential to become a professional recording artist. There is so much talent out there.”

If Emma and| Billie-Jo make it through the regional finals, they will have just one more round to get through before the grand final, which will be held at The O2.
