TOWN hall bosses in Hart have apologised after noticing errors on the annual council tax bill.
The error concerns the figures for how much parish and town councils in the district have changed their part of the bill. The bills have already been sent out to householders in the district, including Hartley Wintney, Hook and Odiham.
Councillor Ken Crookes, leader of Hart District Council, said: “Most people will not notice anything wrong, and the amount of money shown as payable by each taxpayer is absolutely correct.
“Unfortunately a glitch has crept into the computers which print the bills, with the result that the figures showing the percentage changes for the parish and town councils are wrong. We’d like to apologise for any confusion this causes.”
The district council’s statement states that of those parishes in The Gazette area, Rotherwick Parish Council had the highest percentage increase with 18.4 per cent.
Hartley Wintney had no increase in its precept, Hook had a 4.2 per cent increase and Odiham had a 9.2 per cent increase.
