NatWest in Festival Place will close in June
4:08pm Wednesday 13th March 2013 in Local By Emily Roberts, Chief Reporter
NATWEST has announced it will close its branch in Festival Place this summer.
The bank, which has two branches in the town – one in the shopping centre and the other in London Street, at Top of the Town, has put a sign up in the self-service branch to say the decision to shut permanently from 5pm on June 18 “hasn’t been an easy one.”
A statement from NatWest said the closure was decided because of a “sharp decrease in demand.”
It added: “We have advised staff and are helping our customers to make alternative arrangements. Customers can get a full branch offering at our nearby Old Market Square branch around 300 yards away. We also have a range of other options that our customers can use to access their accounts. These include our NatWest mobile phone applications, online and telephone banking services and the use of any Post Office to pay bills, withdraw cash and check balances.”
No redundancies will be made as a result of the closure as all staff will relocate to other branches.
