The Hampshire Parent/Carer Network to hold its first ever conference

THE Hampshire Parent/Carer Network is due to hold its first-ever conference for parents or carers of young children with disabilities or additional needs.

The conference that will take place on March 22 at the Holiday Inn in Eastleigh from 10am to 2.15pm and will be focusing on two key areas – short breaks for carers and the forthcoming changes in special educational needs legislation.

The discussion about the new legislation will be concerned with enabling parents and families both the chance to understand the changes that come into force in September 2014 and to understand how they can participate.

Hampshire is one of seven local authorities testing the new plans.

During the conference, Keiran Lyons and Mandy Johnson, from Hampshire County Council, will be discussing their short breaks services.

Following the conference, parents will then be able to provide feedback and to discuss any ideas they have.

Registration is required for this free event in advance due to limited spaces being available. Parents/carers wishing to attend should contact Lucy Fripp on 02380 721206 or email lucyfripp@roseroad.org.uk.
