TOYS and equipment have been donated to a Basingstoke nursery by staff at local branches of a bank.

Staff from HSBC in Basingstoke, Newbury, Alton and Fleet carried out various fundraising challenges to raise money for Kids Nursery, in Shakespeare Road, Popley.

Mark Pruce, area director at Basingstoke HSBC, said: “We asked the nursery what items they needed, such as toys, and each branch then raised money for a specific item.”

HSBC staff have supported the nursery in the past, when a team spent the day giving a make-over to the garden at the centre.

This time they held cake sales and organised other events to generate funds, before buying the items to present to the nursery.

Mr Pruce said: “We wanted to give something back to the community, and particularly something that would help children.

“One of our staff knew the nursery and that they needed help. The bank is a big organisation that does lots of things nationally, but it was nice to do something for a local cause.”

Staff raised a total of £1,350, which was used buy floor cushions, bean bags, toy dinosaurs, a toy cooker set including pots and pans, cars, musical instruments and ocean animals.
