A MYSTERIOUS murder was solved by guests at a themed charity evening that raised money for a Basingstoke charity.
The event, called 1960s Fashion Victim, was held at the Holiday Inn, in Basingstoke, and raised nearly £3,000 for Home Start North West Hampshire. Those attending dressed in 1960s clothes enjoyed a two-course meal and entertainment.
On the night, a raffle and ticket sales generated £1,470 for Home Start, which was then matched by Barclays, giving a total of £2,940.
The money will be used by the charity to continue its work supporting families in the Basingstoke area.
Its team of volunteers supports families with at least one child under the age of five, offering friendship and practical help to parents under stress in their own home to prevent a crisis or breakdown.
Jo Attridge, a trustee and volunteer for Home Start, said: “This event would not have been possible without the hard work of everyone involved who worked so hard to sell the tickets and to ensure it was a successful evening.”
She added: “Home Start would like to thank Barclays for match funding the evening; the Holiday Inn for providing the venue, and all those who attended.”
