Robbers threaten Wonderland worker with a gun

ARMED robbers tied up a bar worker at a Basingstoke nightclub and threatened him with a gun.

The armed robbery took place at 1pm this afternoon at Wonderland, off Churchill Way.

Two men, who are described as white and had their faces covered, walked into the nightclub and threatened a member of staff with what is believed to have been a handgun. They tied him up, stole money, left the nightclub and made off towards Church Street.

The 34-year-old bar worker was not injured.

Detective Inspector Ben Chivers, of Basingstoke CID, said: “This happened in broad daylight in a busy thoroughfare in Basingstoke.

“We are very keen to speak to two pedestrians who separately crossed over Churchill Way from the bus station side of the road towards the Wonderland side of the road, shortly after 1pm. They may have information which could help this investigation.”

He also wanted to speak to the driver of a red car that turned left into the underground parking area near the nightclub at around the same time, and any motorists driving between Eastrop Roundabout and Victory Roundabout.

Anyone with information can contact Basingstoke CID on 101 or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
