A LOCAL fitness instructor is to hold the town’s first Jhoomathon in memory of a Basingstoke woman.
Nathalie Cuzner was the first instructor to introduce Just Jhoom! to the town over a year ago and runs several successful classes each week at The Vyne Community School.
Just Jhoom!, the brainchild of Shalini Bhalla, means ‘Just Dance!’ and is an energetic class including Bollywood music and dancing and Bhangra.
Nathalie, 37, who lives in Kempshott, said: "I am organising the event to celebrate the life of a family friend, Sandra Ann Yeates, and to raise funds and awareness for the two charities – St Michael's Hospice and the Hampshire Asbestos Support & Awareness Group - that were of huge support to Sandra and her family.
“Sandra touched the lives of so many and spent her life caring for others, but sadly was unable to complete her last local fundraising event due to her own illness (she died of asbestos related cancer last year aged 63).
“It just felt right that I should raise funds in honour of her and the charities that supported her and her family in their time of need."
The Just Jhoom!-athon! will take place on Saturday (23/2) from 10.30am until 1.30pm in The Vyne Community School.
No experience is needed, just a sense of fun and a pair of trainers. Participation costs £10 and Jhoomers must be at least 16 years-old. People of all ages are welcome to attend to watch.
If you are unable to attend, you can still make a donation by visiting justgiving.com/Jhoomathon. Find out more from Nathalie on 07932 658442.
