HUMAN remains have been discovered in Old Basing.
Officers from Hampshire Constabulary’s major investigation team are investigating following the discovery of what they believe to be human remains.
Police were called by a member of the public at about 2.30pm on Wednesday, February 13, to an area of woodland off Basing Road, see map below.
The area is currently cordoned off while specialist teams carry out enquiries.
Senior investigating officer, Detective Inspector Dave Brown said: “We are in very early stages of this investigation and are examining all possible scenarios.
“Initial enquiries are likely to take some time and we have a team of dedicated specialist officers working on this case.
“The area is likely to be cordoned off for some time, but members of the local community should be reassured that there isn’t any risk to the public.”
