A HAMPSHIRE man was savagely beaten by a stranger on New Year's Day in an unprovoked attack in London.
British Transport Police have released CCTV images of a man they want to question in relation to the incident.
It is alleged the attacker repeatedly punched a 22-year-old from Hampshire in the face at a taxi rank at London Waterloo train station at around 6.15am.
Leading the investigation PC Krishan Appannah, said the assault happened after a lively debate between the two men escalated.
“What initially started out as banter escalated and a confrontation between the two men took place.
“The victim was punched repeatedly in the face during the unprovoked attack, which left him with a deep cut to his eyelid, a bloodshot eye and significant bruising.
“The attack was vicious and entirely uncalled-for which has left the victim with nasty injuries on what should have been a day of celebration.”
Anyone who knows the man pictured is urged to contact British Transport Police on 0800 405040 quoting B16/LSA on 7/2/2013.
