TWO professional boxers will be among the guests at a charity ball in Hook.
Reading-based boxers Michael Sprott and Tamuka Muchapondwa will come to the Hook Community Centre, in Ravenscroft, on Saturday, February 16.
The Valentine’s Day ball, which will raise money for Great Ormond Street Hospital in London, is being organised by Hook resident Sammy Johnson. Her father is a boxing trainer and knows the two fighters.
The 23-year-old, of Rectory Road, said her interest in trying to help children comes from the death of her sister. She died at the age of four having suffered from cerebral palsy.
She said: “I just wanted to do something for charity, especially for children as they have always touched my heart.”
Mr Sprott is a 38-year-old heavyweight, who once held the British and Commonwealth title belts. Mr Muchapondwa is a Zimbabwe-born super-welterweight.
The 19-year-old is undefeated in three fights.
Tickets for the ball cost £10, and include dinner and entertainment.
