A FOOTBALL club wants to use parish council land in Odiham for football pitches.
North Warnborough Youth Football Club outlined their plans for the land at Recreation Road at a meeting of Odiham Parish Council.
The club formed this season after a split with Hook United Football Club, and currently plays its matches on pitches at Robert May’s School, in West Street.
Jon Horton, head of coaching, said he hoped to accommodate age groups from under-7s to under-10s by marking a five-a-side pitch and seven-a-side pitch on the parish council-owned land.
He said the school would provide parking on match days so the club does not disturb residents in Recreation Road.
Mr Horton added: “We are basically looking for any support that the parish council are willing to give us on this.
“We want to start in September so it’s important we get going as soon as possible.”
Council chairman Councillor James Robinson-Giannasi said: “I think the possible demand for it is almost certainly there.
“Parking is a big issue and it’s one of our big bugbears. We do not want anything to exacerbate it. If the agreement with the school falls through, it could scupper the whole thing.”
He agreed to meet with Mr Horton and Jim Head, secretary of North Warnborough Football Club, to discuss the matter further.
