A WELL man has completed 60 weeks of gruelling training and physically demanding tests of endurance to become a Royal Marines Commando.

Lieutenant Thomas Scott, who attended Lord Wandsworth College, Long Sutton, passed out at the Commando Training Centre Royal Marines, in Lympstone, Devon, on December 13, having earned the coveted green beret.

Lt Scott, 27, from Well, has now joined 45 Commando Royal Marines based in Scotland, who returned from Afghanistan just a year ago.

He said “It’s been a fantastic experience and it doesn’t stop here. By joining 45 Commando, I join an already highly trained troop of marines and could go anywhere in the world.”

The green Commando beret indicates its wearer has undergone tests of endurance while displaying unselfishness, cheerfulness under adversity, courage, determination and high professional standards.
