THE GREEN shoots of recovery should soon be poking through the soil in Oakley, thanks to the efforts of youngsters in the autumn.

Daffodils and crocuses were planted next to a layby near Kennett Way by Oakley St Lawrence Cubs, and Oakley Brownies.

The bulbs were supplied by Oakley and Deane Parish Council. The children also planted young trees and hedges along the new cycle path that links Oakley and Kempshott.

The two projects enabled the children to get a special badge commissioned to mark the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.

Diane Warner, Oakley Brownie leader, said: “I am sure in the Spring there will be a wonderful display of crocuses and daffodils.”
