Keith Chegwin wins skate-off against Pamela Anderson in Dancing on Ice
DANCING on Ice star Keith Chegwin has scraped through the first week of the ITV television programme, after winning a skate-off against Baywatch babe Pamela Anderson.
Last night viewers saw Keith return to the show, a year after being forced to quit when he fell over at the first rehearsal for the 2012 series, breaking three ribs and fracturing his shoulder.
The TV presenter was clearly delighted to be back on the ice with his partner Olga Sharutenko, and surprised everyone by successfully completing a routine to D Ream’s Things Can Only Get Better. And they certainly did, when he gained a respectable score of 15.5 out of 40 for his performance. New judge Ashely Roberts, from the Pussycat Dolls, described Keith as “a little ball of fun and energy” but Jason Gardiner wasn’t quite as complimentary, telling the Cheggers Plays Pop presenter: “Things couldn’t get any worse with your presentation.”
The 55-year-old, from Ashmansworth, who has been training for Dancing on Ice at Basingstoke’s Planet Ice, said after his performance: “I’m so excited to be here. I have waited a whole year to be here.”
But Keith’s delight was short-lived when he found himself in the bottom two and had to skate again against Pamela Anderson. Unfortunately for Pamela, she stumbled on the ice during her routine, resulting in all four judges voting to save Keith.
Afterwards he thanked his dancing partner for getting him through the first week, and said he is now learning a new routine for the next show.
