TWO people killed in a road traffic collision on Christmas Day have been named by police.

Ann Mary Goodrich, 57, of Church Crookham, Fleet, and her husband, 56-year-old Paul John Goodrich died after the silver Volkswagen Golf they were travelling in collided with a tree on the B3349 Odiham Road at Heckfield Heath.

The driver, a 29-year-old man from Farnborough, received medical attention at the scene before being taken to hospital with serious, but not life threatening injuries.

Police were called at 10.05am Christmas Day after a member of the public reported that a car had gone off the road and collided with a tree.

Mr and Mrs Goodrich were pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said that the next-of-kin are being kept informed by a police family liaison officer. Post-mortem examinations to confirm the cause of death are due to be held later this week.

The B3349, and the B3011 were closed for several hours while officers investigated the scene.

Sergeant Andy Lynch from Hampshire Constabulary's road death investigation team is calling for witnesses to come forward.

He said: "We believe only one vehicle was involved in the collision, but we need to confirm the last known movements of the silver Volkswagen Golf.

"Therefore, I am appealing for anyone who saw this car being driven on the B3349 at Heckfield Heath near Wellington Country Park at around 10am on Christmas Day."
